Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Peel the apples if desired and cut them into fry-like sticks. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Prepare three bowls: In Bowl 1, add the flour; in Bowl 2, whisk the egg and milk; and in Bowl 3, mix the panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Dredge each apple stick in the flour, dip in the egg mixture, and coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Lightly spray the coated apple fries with nonstick spray and place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket, cooking in batches if necessary.
- Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.
Notes
Choose firm apples for the best texture. Drying the apple sticks helps achieve crispiness.
