  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs

  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

For the Cookie Layer:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Make the brownie layer: Whisk melted butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread in the pan.
  • Make the cookie layer: Beat butter and sugars until creamy. Mix in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie batter and gently spread.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
