- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- Food coloring (for decoration)
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass to form a flower shape.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Cool on wire racks.
- Once cooled, decorate with powdered sugar frosting mixed with food coloring and add sprinkles for extra flair.
Notes
For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature. You can chill the dough for thicker cookies and experiment with colors.
