- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Fresh orange slices for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, orange juice, and orange zest, mixing well.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this to the wet mixture until fully combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form for the frosting.
- Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread frosting between the layers and on top of the cake.
- Decorate with fresh orange slices and serve.
Notes
Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor. Don’t overmix the batter to prevent density.
