- 1 loaf of bread (such as challah or brioche)
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cut the bread into cubes and place half of it in the prepared dish. Sprinkle with half of the blueberries.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread. Repeat layering with the remaining bread, blueberries, and egg mixture.
- Allow to sit for 10-15 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, until the casserole is set and golden on top.
- Let it cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For best results, use stale bread and consider adding a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
