Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- Ingredients needed for cake mix (usually eggs, water, and oil)
- 1 can cream cheese frosting
- 12 ounces melting chocolate or candy coating
- Lollipop sticks
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Bake the cake: Follow the instructions on the red velvet cake mix box to bake the cake. Allow the cake to cool completely.
- Mix with frosting: Crumble the completely cooled cake into a large bowl. Add the cream cheese frosting and mix until the mixture is moist and holds together.
- Shape the pops: Take small amounts of the mixture and roll them into balls (about 1 inch in diameter). Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Insert sticks: Melt a small amount of chocolate. Dip the end of each lollipop stick in the melted chocolate and then insert it into the cake ball. Repeat for all the balls.
- Chill: Place the cake pops in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes to firm up.
- Coat with chocolate: Melt the remaining chocolate or candy coating. Once smooth, dip each cake pop into the melted chocolate, making sure to cover it completely.
- Decorate: Place the dipped cake pops back on the parchment paper and sprinkle with sprinkles if desired. Allow the chocolate to set.
- Serve or store: Once set, your red velvet cake pops are ready to enjoy!
Notes
Make sure the cake is completely cooled before mixing with frosting to avoid a gooey texture. Use good quality chocolate for coating to enhance the taste.
