Serbian Rice Dish with Chicken

A delicious one-pot Serbian rice dish with tender chicken and flavorful spices, perfect for busy days.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 pound of chicken breast, cut into pieces
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the pot. Cook until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the chopped bell pepper and paprika. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add the rice to the pot, and stir for about a minute to coat the rice in the flavors.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth, and bring to a boil.
  7. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and has absorbed the broth.
  8. Remove from heat and fluff the rice with a fork. Let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

This dish is best served warm and can be enjoyed on its own or with a side salad. Pair it with yogurt or sour cream for added creaminess.
