  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch (or all-purpose flour)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the cornstarch, all-purpose flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. In another bowl, beat the egg with water.
  3. Dip each piece of chicken first in the egg mixture, then coat it with the flour mixture.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the coated chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove them and drain on paper towels.
  7. In a separate saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  8. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  9. Add the fried chicken and toss to coat.
  10. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top before serving.

Notes

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles. For extra nutrition, consider adding vegetables like broccoli.
