Cinnamon Rolls

Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls filled with cinnamon, topped with cream cheese frosting and caramel sauce.

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for caramel sauce)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for caramel sauce)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Heat milk and butter in a saucepan until warm.
  3. Pour the warm mixture into the dry ingredients and add eggs.
  4. Mix until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  6. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  7. Roll the dough into a rectangle.
  8. Spread softened butter over the rolled dough, then sprinkle it with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  9. Roll it tightly and slice into equal pieces.
  10. Melt butter in a saucepan for the caramel sauce.
  11. Add brown sugar and heavy cream, and mix until smooth.
  12. Pour the caramel mixture into the bottom of a baking dish.
  13. Place the cinnamon rolls on top of the caramel sauce in the dish.
  14. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  15. Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth for the frosting.
  16. Spread the frosting over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.

Notes

For the best results, ensure the milk is warm but not hot. Experiment with different fillings if desired.
