- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for caramel sauce)
- 1 cup brown sugar (for caramel sauce)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
- Heat milk and butter in a saucepan until warm.
- Pour the warm mixture into the dry ingredients and add eggs.
- Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread softened butter over the rolled dough, then sprinkle it with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll it tightly and slice into equal pieces.
- Melt butter in a saucepan for the caramel sauce.
- Add brown sugar and heavy cream, and mix until smooth.
- Pour the caramel mixture into the bottom of a baking dish.
- Place the cinnamon rolls on top of the caramel sauce in the dish.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth for the frosting.
- Spread the frosting over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
Notes
For the best results, ensure the milk is warm but not hot. Experiment with different fillings if desired.
