- 1 package gnocchi
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
- 2 cups milk
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Breadcrumbs for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook gnocchi in a large pot according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- Melt butter in the same pot over medium heat.
- Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk and bring to a simmer until thickened.
- Stir in cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Combine the cooked gnocchi with the cheese sauce and mix well.
- Transfer to a baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top if desired.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra creaminess, add a splash of cream or sour cream. Feel free to mix in vegetables like spinach or broccoli for added nutrition.
