- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp almond extract (optional)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp butter (salted or unsalted, softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp heavy cream
- Patriotic sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 2 tbsp brown sugar until smooth.
- Add in the egg, 2 tsp vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using). Mix well.
- Combine baking powder, flour, cornstarch, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture until combined.
- Spread the dough into a greased 8×8 inch baking pan.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until edges start to turn golden. Let cool completely.
- Mix together 4 tbsp softened butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 3 tbsp heavy cream until fluffy and smooth.
- Spread frosting over the cooled cookie layer and top with patriotic sprinkles.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
